Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time | Permanent
Salary: Competitive daily rate (experience dependent)

Are you passionate about changing the lives of young people who've struggled in mainstream education?

We're working closely with an alternative provision in Wellingborough that supports permanently excluded children and those at risk of exclusion. The school is seeking resilient, empathetic, and proactive Teaching Assistants to join their team from September 2025.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a small, specialist setting where every day presents the chance to make a tangible difference in a young person's life.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Supporting students aged 11-16 in a nurturing and structured environment

  • Building trusting relationships to help re-engage students with learning

  • Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral leads to deliver tailored interventions

  • Helping manage behaviour positively and consistently, using de-escalation strategies

  • Supporting pupils both 1:1 and in small groups, often with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs

  • Encouraging self-esteem, emotional regulation, and positive coping skills

  • Contributing to a calm, therapeutic and inclusive school culture

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has a genuine desire to support vulnerable or at-risk young people

  • Is patient, emotionally intelligent, and consistent in approach

  • Can remain calm under pressure and adapt to challenging behaviour

  • Ideally has experience in education, youth work, PRUs, or mental health support (but training can be provided)

  • Is passionate about helping students overcome barriers to learning

  • Is a strong team player with a sense of humour and a growth mindset

What You'll Gain in Return:

  • A rewarding long-term role with scope to go permanent

  • A close-knit, supportive school team with strong values and shared purpose

  • Access to specialist training in safeguarding, de-escalation, and trauma-informed practice

  • Weekly pay and potential for funded CPD

  • The chance to make a lasting impact in a child's life when they need it most

  • Opportunities for future careers in behaviour support, education, mental health, or youth justice

Grow Professionally with Tradewind:

As a Tradewind Teaching Assistant, you'll have free access to over 2,500 CPD courses via The National College. From trauma-informed practice to classroom management and SEND training, you'll be supported every step of the way.

If you're ready to be a role model, a steady presence, and a champion for young people who've been written off too soon-this is your chance.
