  • Collaborating Holistically: Working seamlessly with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, support staff, and parents, to ensure a cohesive and holistic support system for each student.

  • Personalising Progress: Developing and implementing comprehensive Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contributing to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to track progress and ensure all provisions are met.

  • Championing Potential: Inspiring a sense of self-worth and accomplishment in every student, celebrating their successes, and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

To be successful in this vital role, you should have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Specialist Experience: Proven experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Condition and complex needs, particularly within the 11-19 age range.

  • Deep Understanding: A strong grasp of the specific challenges and strengths associated with autism, along with knowledge of different support strategies (e.g., PECS, TEACCH, sensory integration).

  • Patience and Empathy: A calm, patient, and resilient approach to managing challenging situations, with a genuine desire to understand and support each student.

  • Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build effective relationships with students, colleagues, and families.

  • Creativity and Adaptability: The ability to be flexible and innovative in your teaching, adapting the curriculum to meet individual needs and interests.
