Youth Worker - Classroom Manager (Blackpool Secondary School)

About the Role:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Youth Worker to join our secondary school in Blackpool. This is an exciting and non-traditional role that combines the skills of a youth worker with the structure of a classroom environment. You will be responsible for managing a class of students, ensuring a positive and productive atmosphere that fosters engagement, confidence, and positive behavior.

This is the perfect opportunity for an individual with a proven track record of working with young people aged 11-16. Your ability to build rapport, de-escalate situations, and inspire positive change is more important than a traditional teaching qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise classes, ensuring a structured and supportive learning environment.

  • Utilize youth work principles to address behavioral challenges and promote well-being.

  • Work with students to build social and emotional skills, and improve their readiness to learn.

  • Collaborate with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support student progress and attendance.

  • Serve as a mentor and positive role model for students.

  • Contribute to the school's overall ethos of creating a safe and inclusive community.

What We're Looking For:

  • Essential Experience: You must have demonstrable experience as a Youth Worker or in a similar role, specifically with young people aged 11-16.

  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to command respect.

  • A firm but fair approach, with exceptional communication and de-escalation skills.

  • Knowledge of positive behavior management strategies.

  • A commitment to the social and emotional development of young people.

Start Date: Immediately or by October 2026
