POSITION OVERVIEW As a special needs teaching assistant, you will:

  • Guide pupils with hearing and visual impairment using specialist communication methods in our special needs facility
  • Serve as a dedicated teaching assistant in hearing and visual impairment classrooms, developing meaningful connections with pupils who have disability needs
  • Deliver essential personal care assistance while preserving dignity for pupils with special needs
  • Partner with special needs educators to develop accessible learning opportunities for pupils with hearing and visual impairment
  • Support daily activities and specialist resources as a committed teaching assistant in our special needs establishment
  • Maintain comprehensive observations of pupil development within our disability-centred educational structure
  • Implement behaviour support approaches designed for individual special needs circumstances

PERFECT CANDIDATE We seek enthusiastic, personable individuals in or around Wandsworth committed to creating positive impact who show eagerness to develop within special needs education, especially supporting pupils with hearing and visual impairment.

Key requirements:

  • Passion for supporting pupils who have special needs - disability background advantageous but not required
  • Readiness to deliver personal care as a teaching assistant
  • Enthusiasm for assisting pupils with hearing and visual impairment
  • Prior special needs or teaching assistant experience beneficial in education
  • Experience in the education and training sector will support your application
