Aspiring Deputy Head Teacher Job in Burnley

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced teacher, leader, or professional from a related field to shape the future of our students and our school.

This role is a temporary-to-permanent position, providing a clear pathway to a senior leadership role. We are looking for someone to start in October 2025 or sooner.

About the Role

This isn't a traditional school. Our alternative provision offers a therapeutic, supportive, and nurturing environment for students who have faced barriers to learning. As the Aspiring Deputy Head, you will work closely with the Head Teacher, playing a pivotal role in the strategic leadership and daily operations of the school.

This is a rare opportunity for a leader without QTS to enter a senior school leadership position, as we value experience and a proven track record of working with vulnerable young people just as highly as formal qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educational Leadership: Contribute to the vision and direction of the school, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning, and student welfare.

  • Pastoral Care: Lead on safeguarding and pastoral care, ensuring the well-being and safety of all students.

  • Staff Mentoring: Support, mentor, and motivate staff to foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

  • Data & Outcomes: Use data to monitor student progress, implement targeted interventions, and drive positive outcomes for every child.

  • Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with parents, external agencies, and the wider Burnley community.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a dynamic and resilient individual who is passionate about transforming the lives of young people. You will have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by students in alternative provision settings and a proven ability to lead and inspire a team.

  • With QTS: You will have significant teaching and/or leadership experience in a school or alternative provision setting.

  • Without QTS: You will have extensive experience in a leadership or managerial role within a related field, such as youth work, social services, or therapeutic education.

This is more than just a job; it's a chance to build a legacy. If you have the passion, empathy, and leadership skills to make a difference, we encourage you to apply.
