SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary School, Uxbridge (Hillingdon) | ASAP Start

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Uxbridge (Hillingdon), seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team ASAP. This full-time, long-term role is ideal for a graduate or experienced teaching assistant who is passionate about inclusion and wants to help students with additional needs thrive both academically and emotionally.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and learning delays.

  • Support students in accessing the curriculum across a variety of subjects such as English, Maths, and Science.

  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO, class teachers, and external specialists to implement personalised education plans (IEPs).

  • Assist with behaviour support, emotional regulation, and building students' confidence and independence.

  • Adapt learning materials and teaching strategies to meet individual needs.

  • Monitor student progress and contribute to regular SEN reviews and team meetings.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable.

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting diverse learners.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Good organisational skills and a flexible, proactive mindset.

  • A solid understanding of safeguarding and inclusion in education.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
