1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants - Scunthorpe
Supporting Children & Young People with Autism, Learning Disabilities and Complex Needs (Ages 5-19)

Do you have the passion and patience to make a real difference in a young person's life? We are looking for caring and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistants to join a specialist academy in the Scunthorpe area from October 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a nurturing team that helps students develop confidence, independence, and a genuine "Can Do" attitude. Every day, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people to achieve their potential - both in and beyond the classroom.

About the Academy

The academy provides specialist education for pupils aged 5-19 with a wide range of needs, including:

  • Autism

  • Dyslexia

  • Asperger's Syndrome

  • Moderate, severe, and complex learning difficulties

Your Role

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll be central to each learner's progress. You will:

  • Provide tailored, individualised support to pupils with complex needs.

  • Assist with engaging, creative, and accessible lessons.

  • Promote key life skills and independence.

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to build a strong support network.

  • Contribute to a respectful, positive, and empowering school culture.

What We're Looking For

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds - experience in education is helpful but not essential. What matters most is your attitude, commitment, and desire to support young people.

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable.

  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach is essential.

  • A genuine interest in SEN and a willingness to learn.

  • A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

  • Relevant qualifications or training are advantageous but not required.
