Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Scunthorpe
Supporting Children & Young People with Autism, Learning Disabilities and Complex Needs (Ages 5-19)
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant ready to take the next step in your career? Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support children and young people aged 5-19 with autism, learning disabilities, and complex needs in the Scunthorpe area.

About the Role
As a HLTA, you will:
Lead and deliver planned lessons or learning activities under the direction of teaching staff.
Provide specialist 1:1 and small group support for students with diverse and complex needs.
Adapt learning materials and approaches to suit individual learning styles and abilities.
Support pupils' social, emotional, and communication development.
Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure a joined-up approach to learning and care.
Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging school environment.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Holds HLTA status or has equivalent experience leading learning activities.
Has experience working with children and young people with autism, learning disabilities, or complex needs.
Brings patience, empathy, and resilience to every situation.
Can use initiative to support learning and manage behaviour effectively.
Holds (or is willing to apply for) a valid DBS on the Update Service.
Additional training in areas such as Autism Awareness, Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS would be advantageous, though not essential.
