Job Description

At Tradewind Recruitment, we're committed to connecting passionate professionals with exceptional schools. We're currently recruiting for SEN Cover Supervisors to support a number of well-established specialist SEN schools in Swindon. The schools support students aged 5-19 with a range of complex learning needs including autism, speech and language difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs.
These opportunities will be ideal for someone confident leading a classroom and passionate about making education accessible and engaging for every learner!

The Role:
You will step in to lead lessons when teaching staff are absent, using pre-prepared lesson plans and working alongside a skilled team of teaching assistants and support staff. The focus is on engagement, consistency, and emotional support, rather than traditional academic delivery.
* Delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects and key stages
* Managing classroom routines and supporting positive behaviour
* Adapting activities to suit pupils individual learning and sensory needs
* Collaborating with teaching assistants and wider support teams
* Creating a calm, nurturing environment for learners with additional needs
This SEN Cover Supervisor role is perfect for someone who's confident with behaviour management and committed to inclusion and emotional wellbeing.
Specifics:
* Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, term time only
* Pay: from £130 to £160 per day
* Flexible: part-time or full-time options available
* Start: Immediate starts available (with potential for permanent contracts for the right person)
* Location: Swindon
About you:
You don't need to be a qualified teacher - but you must be confident leading lessons and working with pupils with SEN, particularly autism and SEMH.
Previous experience working in an SEN, PRU, mainstream or care setting
* Ability to lead a classroom and maintain a calm, structured approach
* Understanding of complex needs, including ASC and SEMH
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A valid enhanced DBS (on the Update Service) or willingness to apply
Experience with Makaton, PECS, sensory integration or Team Teach training is a bonus, but not essential.
