Job Opportunity: Temporary Site Manager - Full-Time Cover
Location: Wigan
Contract: Fixed-Term (approx. 3-5 months with possibility of extension)
Hours: 37 hours per week (see shift pattern below)
Start Date: From the end of October (exact date TBC)
Salary: Competitive - based on experience

Tradewind are currently recruiting on behalf of a secondary school in Wigan for a Temporary Site Manager to join a premises team and cover a long-term absence. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in maintaining the daily operations, safety, and cleanliness of our school environment.

About the Role:

As Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the school site, ensuring the premises are well-maintained, compliant, and secure for pupils, staff, and visitors. You'll be a key point of contact for site-related issues and take pride in maintaining high standards.

This is a shift-based role, alternating weekly:

  • Week 1: 6:00am - 2:00pm (Mon-Thurs) and 6:00am - 1:00pm (Fri)

  • Week 2: 11:30am - 7:30pm (Mon-Fri)
    (30-minute unpaid lunch break daily)
    During school holidays, shifts will follow an early/day pattern.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the site to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment

  • Carry out and record compliance checks (e.g. fire alarms, emergency lighting, legionella)

  • Act as keyholder, including opening/locking up and attending occasional out-of-hours callouts

  • Undertake minor repairs, routine maintenance, and general caretaking duties

  • Support with grounds maintenance including cleaning paths, drains, and keeping the estate tidy

  • Assist with deliveries, moving goods and furniture around site

  • Liaise with and supervise on-site contractors

  • Support room setup and site arrangements for events and lettings

  • Monitor cleaning standards and site condition, raising any concerns as needed

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a school site team, caretaking, or facilities management

  • Strong knowledge of building maintenance and H&S procedures (COSHH, fire safety, etc.)

  • Confident working independently and managing a varied daily workload

  • Practical and hands-on with a flexible, proactive attitude

  • Relevant H&S or site-related training (training can be provided)

  • Knowledge of building systems such as heating, intruder alarms, or compliance checks
