Tradewind Recruitment have multiple SEN Teaching Assistant positions available across North London primary schools. These include mainstream schools with resourced provisions, specialist SEN schools, and inclusive settings supporting children with a wide range of additional needs. These positions offer the opportunity to build a rewarding career in education while supporting vulnerable children to reach their full potential.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will be responsible for the below:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to children with Special Educational Needs aged 4-16, including autism, learning disabilities, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and physical disabilities
  • Supporting the implementation of individualized learning programs and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Using positive behavior management strategies to help children regulate emotions and engage with learning
  • Adapting resources and activities to meet diverse learning needs and abilities
  • Supporting children's social and emotional development, helping them build confidence and independence
  • Working collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs and external professionals including occupational therapists and educational psychologists

  • A genuine passion for working with children and commitment to inclusive education
  • Patience, empathy and the ability to build positive relationships with children who face learning challenges
  • Transferrable skills from roles such as care work, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, childcare or similar supportive positions
  • Strong communication skills and ability to adapt your approach to different learning styles and needs
  • Willingness to learn SEN-specific strategies and undertake training (full training and support provided)
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN, childcare, health and social care or education (desirable but not essential - we value experience and attitude)
  • Current Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (where applicable) and satisfactory professional references
  • Complete CV detailing employment history for the previous 10 years where available
  • Valid right to work in the UK
