SEN Teaching Assistant

The school is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to provide full-time support to children with special educational needs for the duration of the academic year.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a caring and collaborative team, helping to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

If you have experience supporting children with ASD, particularly non-verbal children, ADHD, or SEMH needs, this could be the ideal position for you. Training in PECS is desirable but not essential.

Job Summary

  • Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (must be flexible to work with a range of year groups)

  • Location: Romford - easily accessible by car (on-site parking) and local transport

  • Pay: From £90+ per day (PAYE)

  • Start Date: October 2025

  • Duration: rest of academic year

  • Hours: Full-time, term time only

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with:

    • ASD

    • ADHD

    • SEMH

  • Desirable: Training or experience in PECS

  • Patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting children with additional needs

  • Ability to follow guidance from teachers and the SENCO while working effectively within a team

Compliance Requirements

  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Full CV covering employment history with explanations for any gaps

  • Legal right to work in the UK

  • Two professional references covering the last two years

  • Proof of address and original identification for safeguarding checks
