SEN Teaching Assistant

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a large primary school in Havering that provides an inclusive, supportive environment. The school has a friendly ethos, collaborative staff, and a strong focus on helping all children succeed.

We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. This is a full-time role for the rest of the academic year.

Job Summary

  • Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Location: Havering - accessible by car and public transport

  • Pay: £90+ per day (PAYE)

  • Start: ASAP

  • Duration: Full academic year

  • Hours: Full-time, term time only

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with complex SEN, ASD (including non-verbal), and SEMH needs

  • Understanding of strategies to support communication, regulation, and engagement

  • Patience, empathy, and resilience

  • Ability to build positive relationships and work as part of a team under teacher/SENCO guidance

Compliance

  • Enhanced DBS (Update Service) or willingness to apply

  • Full CV with employment history and explained gaps

  • Legal right to work in the UK

  • Two references covering last two years

  • Proof of address and ID for safeguarding checks
