Tradewind are seeking a dynamic and committed Religious Education (RE) Teacher to join a thriving Catholic secondary school in the Wigan area from January 2026 through to the end of the academic year. The successful candidate will teach RE across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering engaging lessons, supporting student progress and contributing to the strong faith-based ethos of the school.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high quality RE lessons for Key Stage 3 and KS4 in line with the school's RE curriculum.
- Engage students in meaningful reflection, debate and intellectual challenge around faith, belief and ethics.
- Foster the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of young people and encourage their active participation in the Catholic life of the school.
- Monitor, assess and report on student progress within RE; adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
- Work collaboratively with the RE department, supporting the school's mission and Gospel values.
- Promote a positive learning environment, high standards of behaviour, and commitment to the Catholic ethos.
Essential Criteria
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised equivalent.
- Experience teaching Religious Education at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- Ability to plan and deliver lessons which engage, challenge and support students of varying abilities.
- Commitment to the Catholic ethos, values and mission of the school (or willingness to contribute positively within that context).
- Strong classroom management, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A reflective practitioner with enthusiasm for RE, faith education and student development.
