Job Description

1-1 Teaching Assistant - Year 3 (Autism & PDA)
Location: Warrington, WA5 - Mainstream Primary School
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: ASAP

We're looking for a compassionate and resilient 1-1 Teaching Assistant to work with a Year 3 pupil in a lovely mainstream primary school in the Warrington, WA5 area.

The pupil has a diagnosis of Autism and PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) and experiences speech and language difficulties. He can communicate and understand fully but is selective with his speech.

Currently, he spends most of his time outside of the classroom and often feels unsure of where he's meant to be within the school day. The school has recently opened a designated provision space for him - a calm, structured setting designed to help him settle and feel secure.

Your role will begin with building trust, consistency, and rapport. Once that relationship is established, you'll play a key part in helping him transition gradually into his new provision and, in time, reintegrate into the classroom environment.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting pupils with Autism and/or PDA

  • Can demonstrate patience, empathy, and emotional intelligence

  • Understands the importance of routine and clear communication

  • Can use creative approaches to engagement and emotional regulation

  • Works effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals

This role is ideal for a dedicated SEN 1-1 Teaching Assistant who thrives on seeing small steps turn into big progress and wants to make a lasting difference to one child's school experience.

If you're confident, nurturing, and ready for a rewarding challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
