Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Salary: £95 - £130 per day (PAYE, dependent on experience)
Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting a resilient, dependable, and committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Enfield. This specialist provision supports students aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, often including ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and behavioural challenges.
This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on building trust, setting boundaries, and motivating young people to reach their potential - both in and out of the classroom.
Your Role
Provide consistent 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH needs
Help pupils stay focused, manage emotions, and re-engage with learning
Implement behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques to maintain a calm, structured environment
Act as a positive role model, promoting respect, resilience, and responsibility
Work closely with teachers, pastoral leads, and therapists to support progress and wellbeing
About You
Experience supporting young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs (school, sports, or youth settings)
Confident, assertive, and patient in your approach
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly
A proactive attitude and willingness to step up when needed
An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
