Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term
Salary: £95 - £130 per day (PAYE, dependent on experience)

Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting a resilient, dependable, and committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Enfield. This specialist provision supports students aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, often including ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and behavioural challenges.

This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on building trust, setting boundaries, and motivating young people to reach their potential - both in and out of the classroom.

Your Role

  • Provide consistent 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH needs

  • Help pupils stay focused, manage emotions, and re-engage with learning

  • Implement behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques to maintain a calm, structured environment

  • Act as a positive role model, promoting respect, resilience, and responsibility

  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral leads, and therapists to support progress and wellbeing

About You

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs (school, sports, or youth settings)

  • Confident, assertive, and patient in your approach

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly

  • A proactive attitude and willingness to step up when needed

  • An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
