Job Title: BSL Communication Support Worker
Location: Haringey, London
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Daily Rate: £100-£110 per day (PAYE)
Are you a passionate and confident British Sign Language (BSL) user who loves supporting young people to reach their full potential? We're looking for a dedicated BSL Communication Support Worker to join a warm, inclusive Special School in Haringey, providing vital support to pupils across both primary and secondary age ranges.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of deaf learners - helping to break down barriers, promote inclusion, and build communication confidence within a supportive and nurturing school community.
Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group BSL communication support, ensuring pupils can fully access lessons, assemblies, and school life.
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and speech and language specialists to adapt resources and deliver high-quality support tailored to individual needs.
Foster pupils' academic progress, emotional well-being, and social interaction through patient, consistent guidance.
Encourage independence and self-expression, helping pupils develop their communication and advocacy skills.
Contribute to creating a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued.
Requirements:
BSL qualification (minimum Level 1 required; Level 2 or above preferred).
Experience supporting children or young people with hearing impairments or additional needs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate, adaptable approach.
A genuine passion for inclusive education and helping every pupil succeed.
