Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Barnet - ASAP Start

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain practical experience working with children and young people before pursuing a career as an Educational Psychologist?

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a fantastic secondary school in Barnet seeking a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team ASAP. This is a full-time, long-term position (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm), ideal for graduates passionate about child development, mental health, and special educational needs (SEN).


Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant - Role Overview

  • Support students with additional learning needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

  • Work closely with the SENCO, Educational Psychologist, and Pastoral Team to deliver tailored support.

  • Provide one-to-one and small group interventions to improve learning outcomes and emotional wellbeing.

  • Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.

  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and differentiated learning strategies.

  • Gain invaluable experience relevant to educational psychology, SEN, or teaching.


Requirements

  • A recent Psychology graduate (or related subject).

  • Passion for supporting young people with additional or complex needs.

  • Empathetic, patient, and emotionally resilient.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
