Job Title: Secondary School Teaching Assistant (Medical & SEND Support) - Planned Start Late November
Location: Wirral, Merseyside
Start Date: End of November
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only

Are you an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a background in medical or personal care? Do you have the skills to provide tailored support to a student with additional medical and SEND needs? We're looking for a dedicated full-time member of staff to join a Wirral secondary school, starting around the end of November.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position supporting a student who requires medical and personal care throughout the school day. You will work closely with teaching and support staff to ensure the student's safety, comfort, and inclusion in all aspects of school life. This role is ideal for someone with a caring nature, strong attention to detail, and experience in providing hands-on medical and emotional support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with medical and SEND needs

  • Assist with personal care tasks, including colostomy/bladder bag management and feeding via feeding tube

  • Ensure safe feeding practices and adherence to medical care plans

  • Support the student's communication and emotional well-being

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and healthcare professionals

  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with medical or personal care needs

  • First Aid trained (essential)

  • Experience with colostomy/bladder bag care and feeding tube management

  • Understanding of SEND, particularly in communication and emotional health needs

  • A proactive, empathetic, and reliable approach

  • A valid enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Relevant TA qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3)

  • Experience working in a secondary school environment
