Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant (KS2)
Location: Islington, London
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Long-term (Monday to Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm)
Pay: £90-£101 per day (PAYE)

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Islington is seeking a compassionate and skilled KS2 SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. You will play a key role in supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and make meaningful progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with a range of SEND needs.

  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver IEPs and tailored interventions.

  • Adapt resources and modify activities to ensure lessons are accessible and engaging.

  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and emotional wellbeing.

  • Support pupils with communication, regulation, sensory needs, and social skills development.

  • Contribute to creating an inclusive, nurturing, and structured learning environment.

  • Track pupil progress and share observations with teaching staff and parents where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within SEND or KS2 settings.

  • Strong understanding of autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or other learning difficulties.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a calm, patient, and empathetic approach.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential.
