We are seeking a dedicated and patient Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming primary school in Islington. This role involves providing 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil with behavioural and social-emotional needs, helping them engage positively in learning and school life.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 behaviour and learning support to a KS2 student.

  • Use de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour management techniques.

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider school staff.

  • Help the pupil build confidence, regulate emotions, and remain engaged in lessons.

  • Support learning activities across the curriculum where needed.

  • Build a trusting relationship to promote progress socially, emotionally, and academically.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting children with behaviour needs or SEN (ADHD, SEMH, ASD etc.).

  • Calm, empathetic, and proactive approach.

  • Able to follow behaviour plans and adapt strategies when required.

  • Good communication skills and confidence working within a team.

  • Reliable, committed, and passionate about helping young people succeed.
