Job Description

1:1 Tutor - Northampton
Location: Northampton, Northamptonshire
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Flexible | Part-Time or Full-Time | Ongoing
Salary: £25-£30 per hour (paid weekly)

Are you an experienced educator who wants to make a difference outside of a traditional classroom setting?
If you're passionate about helping young people reach their potential, 1:1 tutoring in Northampton could be the perfect opportunity.

We are currently seeking dedicated, patient, and adaptable tutors to work with pupils across Northampton who are unable to access full-time mainstream education. These students may be awaiting a school placement, struggling in their current environment, or receiving education through the local authority.

This role offers a deeply rewarding way to support learners at their own pace - with the flexibility to fit tutoring around your schedule.

What Does a 1:1 Tutor Role Involve?

  • Planning and delivering tailored lessons based on each pupil's level and individual needs

  • Building positive, trusting relationships to help students re-engage with education

  • Following EHCPs or personalised learning plans

  • Completing simple online session reports after each tuition session

  • Working flexibly - during the school day or after school, face-to-face or online

  • Supporting students in varied settings such as mainstream schools, alternative provisions, or their homes

What We Offer

  • A consistent flow of tuition referrals across Northampton and nearby areas

  • A dedicated consultant supporting you throughout your tutoring journey

  • Opportunities matched to your subjects, age range preferences, and availability

  • Weekly pay at competitive hourly rates (£25-£30 per hour)

  • Free access to 2,500+ CPD-accredited courses through The National College

Who We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people in education, tutoring, or support roles

  • A calm, patient, and encouraging approach

  • Confidence delivering learning independently and adapting lessons in the moment

  • Strong behaviour management and resilience

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Teaching qualifications are beneficial but not essential - your experience is what counts

Whether you're a retired teacher, stepping out of the classroom, or simply looking for a more flexible and meaningful way to support young people, 1:1 tutoring in Northampton offers the chance to change lives while working on your own terms.
