School Caretaker - Secondary School

A secondary school in Hounslow is looking to recruit a committed School Caretaker to join their premises team from January 2026. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining the school's buildings and grounds, ensuring they remain safe, clean, and welcoming for students, staff, and visitors. You will play a key part in day-to-day operations, including site security, minor repairs, and supporting the logistical needs of the school.

Main Duties Include:

• Routine maintenance work, basic repairs, and identifying issues around the site.

• Managing building access, including unlocking in the mornings and securing the site at the end of the day.

• Monitoring the condition of classrooms, corridors, and external areas.

• Supporting staff with moving furniture, equipment setup, and preparing rooms for activities.

• Overseeing deliveries and ensuring storerooms are organised.

• Assisting with cleaning tasks if required.

Candidate Requirements:

• Practical DIY/maintenance skills and willingness to learn new tasks.

• Good communication skills and a positive, adaptable attitude.

• Understanding of safeguarding and health & safety expectations (training can be provided).

• Prior experience in a premises, caretaking, or facilities role is helpful but not essential.
