SEMH Maths Teacher (Secondary)
Location: Various partner schools across the area

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a compassionate, resilient, and inspiring SEMH Maths Teacher to support secondary-aged pupils across a variety of specialist and mainstream provisions. This role is ideal for teachers who are passionate about breaking down barriers to learning and helping young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs achieve success.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated Maths lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs.

  • Support learners in small groups and on a 1:1 basis to improve confidence, resilience, and academic progress.

  • Use trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to build positive relationships.

  • Implement effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.

  • Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs, and external professionals.

  • Track progress, set personalised targets, and maintain accurate records.

  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.

We Are Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or strong experience as an unqualified teacher/instructor.

  • Experience supporting students with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.

  • Excellent communication, patience, and the ability to build trust with young people.

  • Knowledge of restorative approaches, positive behaviour support, and de-escalation techniques.

  • A commitment to helping vulnerable learners overcome barriers and reach their potential.
