Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a thriving secondary academy in Oldham in their search for an experienced and inspiring Music Teacher to take on the role of Lead Teacher of Music. This is a full-time temporary position from January to July 2025, ideal for a confident practitioner ready to support the Curriculum Lead for Creative Arts and drive forward a vibrant, ambitious Music provision.
The Role: Lead Teacher of Music
We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced Music Teacher who can take a leading role within the department.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.15am - 3.00pm
You will deliver high-quality lessons across:
- Understanding Music
- Music Composition
- Music Performance
- Music Technology
The successful candidate will model excellent practice, bring innovative and practical lesson ideas, and demonstrate strong behaviour management. You will work closely with the Curriculum Lead for Creative Arts to support curriculum development, enrichment, and high standards across the subject.
Although the academy welcomes applications from ECTs and FE-trained specialists with secondary experience, this position requires a confident teacher with proven classroom experience who can lead by example from day one.

Requirements
To be successful in this Lead Music Teacher role, you must:
- Hold QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent FE teaching qualification (PGCE 14+, CertEd etc.)
- Have strong, recent experience teaching Music to students aged 11-18
- Be confident in leading practice and supporting curriculum development
- Hold an Enhanced DBS and provide suitable references
- Provide a full CV with complete employment and education history, with all gaps explained
- Have the legal right to work in the UK full time
