Job Description
We are a welcoming special school in the Scunthorpe area supporting children and young people aged 3-19 with Autism, Learning Difficulties, and Complex Needs. We provide a caring, structured environment where every student is encouraged to achieve their very best.
The Role From January 2026 we are looking for caring and committed Learning Support Assistants to join our team. You will support students in class, with personal care where needed, and during activities, helping them to learn, communicate, and feel safe and happy.
Day-to-day you will
- Work alongside teachers and therapists to support individual students and small groups
- Help with personal care, mobility, feeding and sensory needs as required
- Use communication tools such as PECS, Makaton or AAC devices (full training given)
- Follow behaviour support plans and use positive, calm approaches
- Join in with therapy sessions, play, and off-site activities
We are looking for people who
- Are patient, kind and reliable
- Enjoy working with children and young people with special needs
- Can stay calm in challenging moments
- Have good English and basic maths skills
Experience welcomed from
- School settings
- Residential children's care homes
- Supported living or respite services for children/young people
- Volunteering or family experience
(No previous school experience required - we provide all training.)
