We are seeking a dedicated Executive Assistant / School Administrator to join our secondary school in Blackburn. This is a pivotal role that combines strategic support for the Senior Leadership Team with the day-to-day management of our front-of-house operations. If you have a background in senior administration, experience managing teams, and excellent communication skills, we want to hear from you.

Core Responsibilities: Leadership & Operations

This role is multifaceted, requiring a sharp eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities:

  • Executive Support: Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, including diary management, travel arrangements, and preparing high-level correspondence.

  • Team Leadership: Line manage and mentor three reception and administrative staff across the school, ensuring the front-of-house service is professional, welcoming, and efficient.

  • Supplier Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for external suppliers and contractors, managing service level agreements, procurement, and ensuring value for money for school resources.

  • Operations Management: Oversee school-wide administrative systems, including admissions data, attendance reporting, and the coordination of major school events and parents' evenings.

  • Communication Hub: Ensure smooth communication between the school, parents, governors, and external stakeholders, maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality at all times.

  • Experience: Proven experience in a Senior Administrator, Office Manager, or Executive Assistant role, preferably within an educational or public sector setting.

  • People Management: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a small team.

  • Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience using School Management Information Systems (SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom) is highly desirable.

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to negotiate with external suppliers.

  • Organisation: Unbeatable organisational skills with the ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure.
