Teacher - Complex Learning Needs (SEND Schools)

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking experienced and dedicated Teachers to work in specialist schools supporting children and young people with complex learning needs.

These roles involve delivering highly adapted and individualised teaching to pupils who require a structured, supportive, and nurturing learning environment.

The role will include:

  • Planning and delivering differentiated lessons tailored to complex learning needs

  • Teaching pupils with ASD, PMLD, SLD, SEMH, and additional needs

  • Working with small classes and providing personalised learning programmes

  • Supporting emotional regulation, communication, and positive behaviour strategies

  • Working collaboratively with support staff and multi-disciplinary teams

Essential requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification

  • Previous experience teaching in SEND or specialist education settings

  • Experience supporting pupils with complex learning needs and/or challenging behaviour

  • Strong classroom management and adaptability

Desirable training and experience:

  • Team Teach or positive behaviour management training

  • Trauma-informed practice

  • Moving & Handling and Personal Care training

  • Experience with communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC

  • Knowledge of EHCPs and individual learning plans
