Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Barnet - January 2026 Start

Tradewind Recruitment are working with fantastic secondary schools in Barnet seeking Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistants to join their team from January 2026. This is a full-time, long-term position (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm) - ideal for graduates passionate about mental health, behaviour, inclusion, and supporting students to thrive both academically and emotionally.
Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant - Role Overview
Support students with additional learning needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
Work closely with the SENCO, Pastoral Team, and external professionals to deliver targeted interventions and support strategies.
Provide one-to-one and small group support, helping students develop confidence, emotional regulation, and academic progress.
Contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, supported, and understood.
Promote students' emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive behaviour using evidence-based and restorative approaches.
Gain valuable, hands-on experience relevant to careers in psychology, education, mental health, or therapeutic support.
Requirements
A recent Psychology graduate (or closely related degree).
A strong interest in child development, mental health, and supporting young people with additional needs.
An empathetic, patient, and resilient approach.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
