Early Years Teaching Assistant Job - Catholic Primary School, Darwen

A welcoming small Catholic primary school in Darwen (BB3) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant / Nursery Practitioner to join their Early Years team from January 2026.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young children's development and want to work within a values-led Catholic school environment that prioritises care, respect, and inclusion.


About the Role - Early Years Education Support

As part of the Early Years team, you will support children aged birth to 5 years, helping to create a nurturing, engaging, and safe learning environment during this vital stage of development.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of EYFS-appropriate activities, indoors and outdoors

  • Assisting with personal care, including toileting and feeding

  • Helping to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment

  • Observing children's progress and sharing feedback with teaching staff

  • Encouraging social, emotional, and communication development

  • Supporting children during play-based and structured learning

  • Preparing learning resources and tidying learning areas

  • Following safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times

  • Working collaboratively as part of a supportive Early Years team


The Ideal Candidate

  • Has a genuine interest in working with Early Years / EYFS children

  • Is patient, caring, and enthusiastic

  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Is reliable, professional, and nurturing

  • Is willing to learn and develop knowledge of the EYFS framework

  • Can work effectively as part of a team

  • Is committed to children's safety, wellbeing, and development

Previous Early Years experience or qualifications are desirable but not essential. This role would suit graduates, career changers, or those starting out in education.
