School HR Officer - Secondary School - Maternity Cover - 3 Days per Week - Until February 2027 - Camden

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Camden who are seeking a School HR Officer to join their team on a part-time basis (3 days per week) to provide maternity cover until February 2027.

This role is ideal for someone with excellent attention to detail who enjoys supporting staff and senior leaders with all aspects of HR administration and compliance.

School HR Officer - Role Overview

As the School HR Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the school's HR function and ensuring all processes are carried out in line with school policies and employment legislation. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing recruitment processes, including adverts, shortlisting, interview coordination, and pre-employment checks.

  • Overseeing onboarding and leaver processes, including contracts, references, and documentation.

  • Maintaining accurate staff records and HR systems.

  • Supporting payroll by processing starters, leavers, changes, and absences.

  • Advising staff and managers on HR policies, procedures, and employment matters.

  • Supporting absence management, maternity/paternity processes, and staff wellbeing initiatives.

  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, safer recruitment, and GDPR requirements.

  • Assisting with HR reporting, inspections, and audits as required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an HR Officer or HR Administrator role (school-based experience highly desirable).

  • Strong knowledge of HR processes and UK employment legislation.

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Confident communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive matters professionally.

  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
