Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Primary School

£115-£125 per day (negotiable)

SANZA Teaching Agency is working with a primary school in Harrow, London to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or an experienced Teaching Assistant capable of leading classes. This is a full-time, term-time only role starting as soon as possible, continuing until at least the end of the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent position thereafter.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident HLTA or senior Teaching Assistant looking to broaden their experience, take on greater responsibility, and make a real impact on pupils' learning and development.

About the Role - HLTA (Primary School, Harrow)

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You will work closely with class teachers and senior leaders, providing high-quality classroom support and covering lessons as needed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering learning support across EYFS, KS1 and KS2

  • Leading whole-class lessons and providing PPA cover when required

  • Supporting engaging, creative and inclusive teaching approaches

  • Maintaining a positive, well-managed classroom environment

  • Adapting quickly to different year groups, subjects and learning objectives

  • Supporting pupils to achieve strong academic and personal outcomes

The Ideal Candidate

This role would suit a candidate who:

  • Holds HLTA status or is a highly experienced Teaching Assistant with class cover experience

  • Has strong classroom management and communication skills

  • Is confident, adaptable and proactive

  • Can demonstrate initiative across all primary key stages

  • Is committed to supporting pupil progress and wellbeing

  • Is available to start as soon as possible
