Year 1 Teacher - Maternity Cover
Location: Peterborough
Start Date: June 2026
Contract: Maternity Cover (Fixed Term)
Salary: £150-£160 (dependent on experience)
Tradewind Recruitment is currently working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school to recruit a Year 1 Teacher for a maternity cover position.

The Role
- Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons in line with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum
- Create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
- Assess, monitor, and support pupil progress effectively
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents
- Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL
- Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child welfare
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
- Has experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1
- Demonstrates strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Is enthusiastic, caring, and committed to pupil development
- Has a sound understanding of phonics and early reading strategies
