Leicestershire County Council Virtual School Tutor - January 2026 start


Location: Charnwood


Start Date: rolling start from January 2026 onwards


Contract: Temporary

Tradewind Recruitment is now working closely with Leicestershire County Council (LCC) to provide tuition for pupils without a school place (neither mainstream nor AP / SEND settings) to ensure that their legal entitlement to education is met.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Tutot to support pupils on a bespoke and individualised basis. Experience with pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is preferred. This role would also be suitable for tutors with a strong professional interest in a range of SEND.

The role - Tuition subjects needed:

  • Primary Mathematics
  • Primary English
  • Secondary Mathematics
  • Secondary English
  • Functional Skills - English
  • Functional Skills - Mathematics

The role - requirements:

  • Tutoring pupils at their home, or in a public place - by mutual agreement
  • Planning and delivering engaging sessions tailored to individual pupil learning needs
  • Supporting pupils who may have gaps in learning, or disrupted learning experiences
  • Reporting session progress and outcomes
  • Creating a safe and positive learning environment
  • Working collaboratively with a range of support staff and external professionals

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent teaching qualification)
  • Have experience working with pupils with SEND (desirable)
  • Demonstrate strong relationship-building skills
  • Be resilient, patient, and passionate about inclusive education
  • Plan structured learning to ensure pupils make academic progress
