English Teacher
Location: Darlington
Contract: Full-time
Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Start Date: February 2026
A Good-rated secondary school in Darlington is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and committed English Teacher to join their successful and supportive teaching team from February 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop strong analytical skills, confidence in communication, and a genuine love of literature and language.
Role Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the national curriculum
Teach across KS3 and KS4, covering a wide range of literary genres, writing styles, and language skills
Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity, discussion, and critical thinking
Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring additional support
Monitor, assess, and provide meaningful feedback to support pupil progress and attainment
Prepare students for internal assessments and GCSE examinations, ensuring confidence and readiness
Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and the ongoing improvement of the English department
Support extracurricular and enrichment activities such as reading clubs, creative writing groups, or theatre trips where appropriate
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching English at KS3-KS4
Strong subject knowledge with the ability to bring texts, themes, and language concepts to life
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
A commitment to raising standards and supporting student achievement
