English Teacher
Location: Darlington
Contract: Full-time
Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Start Date: February 2026

A Good-rated secondary school in Darlington is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and committed English Teacher to join their successful and supportive teaching team from February 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop strong analytical skills, confidence in communication, and a genuine love of literature and language.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the national curriculum

  • Teach across KS3 and KS4, covering a wide range of literary genres, writing styles, and language skills

  • Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity, discussion, and critical thinking

  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring additional support

  • Monitor, assess, and provide meaningful feedback to support pupil progress and attainment

  • Prepare students for internal assessments and GCSE examinations, ensuring confidence and readiness

  • Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and the ongoing improvement of the English department

  • Support extracurricular and enrichment activities such as reading clubs, creative writing groups, or theatre trips where appropriate

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

  • Experience teaching English at KS3-KS4

  • Strong subject knowledge with the ability to bring texts, themes, and language concepts to life

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

  • A commitment to raising standards and supporting student achievement
