Location: Blackburn, Lancashire (BB1)
Salary: £13.68 - £14.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Term Time)
Start Date: February 2026 (Post-Half Term)
Overview
Are you looking for a Teaching Assistant job in Blackburn? A nurturing, "Good" rated small primary school in the BB1 area is seeking a dedicated Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant Year 1 classroom. This is a full-time role starting immediately after the February half-term.
Key Responsibilities
Provide classroom support to the Year 1 teacher in a small school setting.
Lead Phonics interventions and small-group numeracy activities.
Support pupils with diverse learning needs and EAL (English as an Additional Language).
Foster a positive learning environment during the transition from EYFS to Key Stage 1.
Maintain safeguarding standards and support student wellbeing.
Requirements (Candidate Profile)
Level 2 TA Qualification: Must hold a recognized Level 2 (or higher) Teaching Assistant certificate.
Primary School Experience: Proven experience working with KS1 or EYFS children.
Local Knowledge: Ideally based in or able to commute easily to Blackburn (BB1).
Skills: Strong literacy and numeracy skills; knowledge of Phonics frameworks is highly desirable.
DBS: An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
