Tradewind Recruitment is a values-led, people-focused education agency that places relationships at the heart of everything we do. We work in close partnership with specialist SEN provisions across Swindon, taking time to understand both our schools and our staff to ensure every placement is a strong match. Due to increasing demand within our partner settings, we are now seeking dedicated SEN Cover Supervisors to join our supply team.

The Role

We are recruiting several SEN Cover Supervisors to work full time on a temporary basis within a large all-through special educational needs provision. While this is initially a supply role, opportunities for permanent positions may become available for the right individuals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering pre-prepared lessons to small class groups from KS1 through to Post-16
  • Providing consistent classroom supervision and maintaining a calm, structured environment
  • Supporting pupils with a range of needs including ASD, SEMH, communication difficulties, sensory needs and moderate to severe learning difficulties
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff
  • Adjusting activities, routines and behaviour strategies to meet individual learning needs
  • Building trusting relationships that promote engagement, independence and safety

Pupil Profile

Students within this setting may display:

  • Limited verbal communication or communication barriers
  • Emotional regulation difficulties, anxiety-related behaviours or low frustration tolerance
  • Sensory processing differences
  • Developmental and learning delays requiring a patient, consistent approach
  • Occasional challenging behaviour, managed through clear behaviour plans and strong leadership support

This position would suit someone who is calm, adaptable and resilient, with the confidence to respond positively to a variety of learning and behavioural needs.

Person Specification

We are keen to hear from candidates who have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (school-based, tutoring or youth work experience welcomed)
  • Confidence supervising a class using pre-set lesson plans
  • Flexibility to work across a wide age range
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • A reliable, adaptable approach and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
  • Availability to work full time (Monday to Friday); part-time availability may be considered
