SEN Teaching Assistant - Independent Secondary School (Year 9)

Tradewind is working with a small independent secondary school near Putney Bridge who are seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support Year 9 pupils with dyslexia, ASD and ADHD. Pupils are taught in small classes of 3-8 students, following a mainstream-style curriculum with a strong focus on engagement, skills development and enrichment, rather than exam preparation.


Role Details

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (Dyslexia & ADHD)
Location: Fulham (District Line & local bus routes)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:25am-3:30pm (term time only)
Start Date: ASAP


About the Role

  • Provide 1:1 and in-class support across a range of general subjects, supporting access to learning rather than exam outcomes

  • Support pupils in English, Maths and Humanities at a pre-GCSE / foundation level

  • Assist pupils during practical and creative lessons, including Food Technology, Art, Design Technology and enrichment sessions

  • Encourage engagement, independence and positive learning behaviours

  • Support small groups with differentiated and adapted learning activities

  • Use Google Classroom, Docs and Slides to support learning and organisation

  • Work closely with teachers to adapt resources and activities for SEND learners

  • Contribute positively to a nurturing, structured and inclusive school environment


Person Specification

  • Understanding of dyslexia, ADHD and additional learning needs

  • Calm, patient and empathetic approach

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills to support learning across subjects

  • Confident using Google Workspace

  • Interest or experience in creative, practical or enrichment-based subjects (Food Tech, Art, DT, Sport, Gaming, etc.)

  • Graduate preferred but not essential


Compliance Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain)

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Two years of references

  • Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete)

  • Full ID and address checks

  • Experience working with children or young people (desirable)
