Secondary Teacher

Tradewind are working with a local Kingston upon Thames school, who are recruiting a Secondary Teacher to join a specialist education setting in Kingston upon Thames, conveniently located close to Chessington South Station with on-site parking available. This is an excellent opportunity for a secondary teacher, primary teacher, or overseas trained teacher looking to work in a supportive, small-class environment.

You will be teaching KS3 and KS4 pupils who are lower-attaining, in small classes of approximately 3-10 students, delivering a variety of subjects including Maths, English and History.

This role is ideal for teachers who are passionate about inclusive education, personalised learning, and making a real impact on young people's outcomes.

Job Overview - Secondary Teacher (maternity cover)

  • Location: Kingston upon Thames (near Chessington Station)
  • Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm (Term time only)
  • Key Stages: KS3 & KS4 - Small groups (3-10 pupils)
  • Subjects Taught: Maths, English, History (and related curriculum areas)
  • Start Date: ASAP / Flexible

Primary-trained teachers with experience or interest in KS3/KS4 are strongly encouraged to apply.

Teacher Compliance Requirements

All applicants must be able to provide:

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Two professional references (including most recent employer)
  • Proof of qualifications
  • Safeguarding and child protection awareness
  • Overseas police checks (if applicable)

Desirable Teacher Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience teaching KS3 and/or KS4
  • Strong subject knowledge in Maths, English, or Humanities
  • Ability to differentiate for lower-attaining pupils
  • Excellent behaviour management strategies
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Understanding of SEND, SEMH or alternative provision (desirable but not essential)
  • Reflective, adaptable, and student-centred teaching approach
