Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Location: Cambridge

Contract: Full-time, until the end of the academic year

Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established, supportive school for an experienced and committed Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to start as soon as possible.
The school has been rated Good by Ofsted and places safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at the heart of everything they do. This is a vital role within the school, offering the opportunity to make a real and lasting impact on the lives of children and young people.
The Role - Designated Safeguarding Lead
As the DSL, you will take strategic and operational responsibility for safeguarding across the school. You will be a key point of contact for all safeguarding matters and play a central role in ensuring that pupils are safe, supported, and protected at all times
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing all aspects of safeguarding and child protection within the school
- Acting as the main point of contact for safeguarding concerns and disclosures
- Making referrals to external agencies such as Children's Social Care and attending multi-agency meetings when required
- Maintaining accurate, confidential, and up-to-date safeguarding records
- Ensuring the school's safeguarding policies and procedures are fully compliant with current legislation and statutory guidance (including Keeping Children Safe in Education)
- Supporting and advising staff on safeguarding matters and promoting a strong safeguarding culture across the school
- Delivering or supporting safeguarding training for staff when required
- Working closely with senior leaders to ensure pupil welfare is prioritised at all times
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience working as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (essential)
- Demonstrate a strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies, and best practice
- Be confident handling sensitive and complex cases with professionalism and care
- Have excellent communication and organisational skills
- Be able to work collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
