About This Role:

A well-established SEMH primary school in Croydon is seeking an outstanding Teaching Assistant to join their therapeutic team. This is a full-time, long-term position starting after February half term, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

The school provides specialist provision for children aged 5-11 with social, emotional, and mental health needs, using trauma-informed approaches to help every child reach their potential in a nurturing, structured environment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in an SEMH, PRU, or specialist primary school environment
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and experience supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs
  • Experience working with children with one or more of the following:
    • ADHD
    • ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
    • Anxiety disorders
    • Self-harming behaviours and suicidal ideation
    • Attachment difficulties
    • Speech & Language difficulties
    • Dyslexia or Dyspraxia
  • Exceptional de-escalation and positive behaviour support skills with a calm, consistent approach
  • Strong emotional resilience and ability to build trusting relationships with vulnerable children
  • Genuine passion for therapeutic education and championing every child's right to succeed
  • Enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Full commitment to safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
