Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant - Year 5
Location: Blackburn (BB2 area)
Start Date: 23rd February 2026
Contract: Fixed Term (until July 2026)
Hours: 9:00am - 3:30pm (30-minute lunch break, unpaid)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a primary school in the Blackburn (BB2) area.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is patient, understanding and committed to making a positive difference to a child's educational, social and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with ASD
Support communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
Implement personalised strategies and interventions
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals
Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
Promote independence and confidence
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children with ASD
A calm, structured and consistent approach
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
The ability to build positive, trusting relationships
Understanding of sensory needs and regulation strategies
Relevant TA qualification (desirable but not essential)
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
