Job Description

The Role

Are you a resilient and empathetic individual with experience in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) support? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Blackpool.

You will be working with children and young people who have faced significant barriers to learning. This role requires a "trauma-informed" approach, focusing on building secure relationships and providing the emotional stability these students need to succeed in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1:1 SEMH Support: Providing tailored emotional and academic support to students with Complex Needs and EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties).

  • De-escalation: Implementing Positive Behaviour Management strategies to support students during periods of emotional dysregulation.

  • EHCP Implementation: Working closely with the SENCO to track progress against Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets.

  • ADHD & Autism Support: Utilizing specialist strategies to engage learners with Neurodiverse profiles, including ADHD and ASC.

  • Nurture-Based Learning: Delivering interventions that focus on social skills, self-esteem, and emotional resilience.

Requirements

  • Experience: Previous experience as an SEN TA, Youth Worker, Residential Support Worker, or Mental Health Assistant.

  • Skills: Strong understanding of Safeguarding procedures and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • Training: Training in Team Teach, PRICE, or MAPA is highly desirable (but not essential, as training can be provided).

  • Mindset: A non-judgmental, patient, and resilient "can-do" attitude.

Why Join This Blackpool Provision?

  • Temp-to-Perm: A clear pathway to a permanent contract with the school.

  • Specialist Training: Access to ongoing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) in SEMH and trauma-informed practice.

  • Local Impact: Make a genuine difference in the lives of vulnerable young people in the Blackpool community.
