A Primary School located in Camden is thrilled to announce the opening of our brand-new Autism Unit, and we are seeking a compassionate and skilled Teaching Assistant to join us on this exciting venture.

Position: Teaching Assistant - Autism Unit
Location: Camden Borough, London
Number of Children: 8
Contract Type: Full-time
Contract Duration: Immediate Start until July 2026
Working Hours: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm (Term Time Only)

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support and guidance to students within the Autism Unit.
  • Cooperative with the class teacher and therapists to implement personalized learning programs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where every child feels valued and supported.
  • Assist students in developing social, communication, and behavioral skills.
  • Work closely with parents and caregivers to ensure a holistic approach to each child's development.
  • Contribute to a cooperative team environment and participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with children with autism is highly desirable.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching and Learning Support or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with autism.
  • A positive and proactive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
