Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Ruislip seeking a DT Technician to join their Design & Technology department on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting both staff and students within a busy and well-equipped department.
DT Technician - Role Overview
As a DT Technician, you will provide practical and technical support across the Design & Technology department, ensuring lessons run smoothly and safely. Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons
Maintaining machinery and workshop tools in line with health and safety regulations
Supporting teachers and students during practical sessions
Managing stock levels and ordering materials where required
Ensuring safe storage of tools, chemicals, and specialist equipment
Conducting regular health and safety checks and risk assessments
Assisting with displays, projects, and coursework preparation
Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment
Requirements
Previous experience working as a DT Technician or in a workshop/technical environment (Essential)
Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures within a workshop setting
Experience working with wood, metal, plastics, or CAD equipment (Desirable)
Organised, proactive, and practical approach
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
