DT Technician - Secondary School - Ruislip - ASAP Start - Full-Time

Are you an experienced DT Technician or practical support professional with a strong understanding of workshop safety and equipment?
Are you organised, hands-on, and passionate about supporting creative and technical learning in a secondary school environment?

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Ruislip seeking a DT Technician to join their Design & Technology department on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting both staff and students within a busy and well-equipped department.


DT Technician - Role Overview

As a DT Technician, you will provide practical and technical support across the Design & Technology department, ensuring lessons run smoothly and safely. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing materials, tools, and equipment for practical lessons

  • Maintaining machinery and workshop tools in line with health and safety regulations

  • Supporting teachers and students during practical sessions

  • Managing stock levels and ordering materials where required

  • Ensuring safe storage of tools, chemicals, and specialist equipment

  • Conducting regular health and safety checks and risk assessments

  • Assisting with displays, projects, and coursework preparation

  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment


Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a DT Technician or in a workshop/technical environment (Essential)

  • Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures within a workshop setting

  • Experience working with wood, metal, plastics, or CAD equipment (Desirable)

  • Organised, proactive, and practical approach

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
