Job Description

SEN Teaching Assistant - High Needs Support (Year 7/8)

Location: Blackburn, Lancashire

Salary: £110.88 - £120.07 per day

Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term (Immediate Start)

Category: Education / SEND Support

The Opportunity

Are you a resilient and proactive Teaching Assistant looking for a stable, long-term role in Blackburn? We are currently recruiting for a unique position within a specialist high-needs provision. You will be the dedicated support for a consistent, small group of just 8 pupils across Year 7 and 8.

Because this group is taught by one lead teacher in a self-contained setting, you will provide the essential continuity these students need. This is a chance to build genuine, transformative relationships with learners who require a firm yet empathetic approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide full-time classroom support to a high-needs group of 8 pupils.
  • Utilise your initiative to identify and de-escalate potential behavioural triggers before they escalate.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to deliver a consistent, safe, and engaging learning environment.
  • Apply behaviour management strategies tailored to students with complex SEMH and behavioural needs.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven Experience: You must have a background in supporting challenging behaviour, ideally within an Alternative Provision (AP) or SEND setting.
  • Proactive Mindset: We need someone who can work independently and use their initiative to manage classroom dynamics.
  • De-escalation Skills: Team Teach or similar positive handling training is highly desirable but not essential if you have significant relevant experience.
  • Commitment: This is a long-term position. We need a reliable professional who can offer these students the stability they deserve.

Why This Role?

  • Immediate Start: Skip the long wait times; we need you in the classroom ASAP.
  • Small Group Focus: Work intensely with just 8 pupils, allowing for real progress and rapport building.
  • Supportive Environment: You will be part of a tight-knit team dedicated to student welfare and staff development.

Apply Now: If you are a confident, behaviour-focused TA ready for a new challenge in Blackburn, please submit your CV today for an immediate interview.
