Head of Physical Education
A large secondary school based in Ealing, London is looking for a Head of Physical Education.
The school is seeking someone to start from September 2026 on a long-term basis.
This position is full time, although the school may consider strong candidates interested in some flexibility. Working hours are 8:30am to 3:30pm.
Salary will match Inner London MPS/UPS + TLR depending on experience and responsibilities.
The school has available parking spaces for staff.
Head of Physical Education - Ealing, London
* Lead and manage the Physical Education department, delivering a broad and engaging PE curriculum that inspires students to participate, compete and lead active, healthy lifestyles.
* Plan and deliver high-quality PE lessons across Key Stages, ensuring students develop physical skills, teamwork, resilience and confidence through a variety of sports and activities.
* Support students' personal development by promoting leadership, sportsmanship and wellbeing through inclusive and accessible physical education programmes.
* Organise and oversee extracurricular sport, fixtures, tournaments and enrichment opportunities that encourage wider student participation.
* Monitor and support the performance of staff within the department, providing guidance, mentoring and professional development where appropriate.
* Create a positive, inclusive and safe environment where all students feel confident taking part in physical activity regardless of ability.
* Use assessment and progress tracking to ensure high standards of teaching and learning across the department.
* Embrace the ethos of the school and contribute to a dynamic learning community where students feel valued, supported and motivated to succeed.

Qualifications and Person Specification:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* A relevant degree in Physical Education, Sports Science or related field
* Excellent subject knowledge with the ability to inspire and motivate students
* Previous leadership experience or readiness to lead a department is desirable
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Approachable, enthusiastic and committed to student wellbeing and achievement
