School Administrator - Secondary School (Newham, East London)

A busy and welcoming secondary school in the London Borough of Newham is seeking a highly organised and professional School Administrator to join our dedicated administrative team.

This is a key role within the school office, providing efficient administrative support to staff, students, parents and senior leadership. The successful candidate will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the school office and maintain a high standard of communication and organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Leadership Team and teaching staff

  • Manage reception duties including answering calls, emails and greeting visitors

  • Maintain accurate pupil records and school databases

  • Support attendance monitoring and reporting

  • Assist with school communications, letters and documentation

  • Handle general office tasks including filing, scheduling and data entry

  • Ensure safeguarding and confidentiality procedures are followed at all times

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a school environment (essential)

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively in a busy environment

  • Professional, reliable and approachable manner

Desirable

  • Experience using school management systems such as SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom

  • Understanding of safeguarding and school policies
