Teaching Assistant for SATS (Wandsworth)

SANZA Teaching Agency is working with a welcoming primary school in Wandsworth seeking a proactive Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Assistant to support Year 6 pupils as they prepare for SATs. Work closely with the class teacher delivering small-group interventions in Maths and English, boosting confidence and helping pupils reach their full potential during this important stage of their learning.

This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced or academically strong teaching assistant to gain interventions experience leading nummeracy and literacy support.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide classroom support and help pupils remain engaged with their learning throughout the school day.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Lead small-group and one-to-one interventionsto boost attainment
  • Support the Year 6 teacher in preparing pupils for SATs in Maths, Reading and SPaG
  • Reinforce key literacy and numeracy skills through targeted practice
  • Assist with SATs revision sessions and practice papers
  • Provide in-class support during lessons and independent work
  • Help identify pupils needing additional support and adapt activities accordingly
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning

Who We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Tutor, or similar role is beneficial
  • Graduates and university students with a Bachelors degree are encouraged to apply
  • Confident ability to deliver small group interventions
  • Creative and consistent to get the best out of pupils
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, proactive and enthusiastic about working with children
  • Understanding of safeguarding and school environments
  • Willingness to work in different schools on a flexible basis
