Learning Facilitator - Specialist SEN Provision

Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with a specialist SEN provision in Bristol to recruit Learning Facilitators to support pupils across both primary and secondary age ranges.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a highly supportive, therapeutic environment, supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs and helping them to access education in a meaningful and personalised way.
The Role
As a Learning Facilitator, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside of the classroom. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams to deliver tailored support that meets each pupil's individual needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting learning activities across a range of subjects
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Managing behaviour using a calm, consistent, and trauma-informed approach
- Supporting emotional regulation and social development
- Adapting tasks to suit different learning styles and abilities
- Assisting with personal care where required
About the Pupils
The provision supports children and young people from primary through to secondary age, all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Pupils may present with:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- ADHD
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Moderate learning difficulties
- Trauma backgrounds, which may impact behaviour and engagement
Some pupils may display behaviours that challenge, including:
- Disengagement and emotional dysregulation
- Difficulty with transitions or changes to routine
- Sensory sensitivities
- Verbal or, at times, physical behaviours when overwhelmed
A calm, patient, and resilient approach is essential!
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based or alternative settings)
- A strong understanding of behaviour management and/or a trauma-informed approach
- Confident supporting both primary and secondary-aged pupils
- Resilient, empathetic and adaptable
- Team Teach training is desirable but not essential
